About us:

My name is Tommy Cho and I am a Jiu Jitsu black belt, under Jeff Serafin. I have been training, competing, and instructing for the past 10 years.

The journey started as a young kid. I have always loved martial arts and everything that it stood for. As I got older, these dreams faded away and were replaced with responsibilities and sacrifices. At the ripe age of 35, I sucked up my insecurities and tried my first class. Little did I know then, that I would be making a life changing decision.

I started consistently training which lead to competing to test the skills I had learned. I started making better decisions both in and out of the gym. I found myself not only becoming better in Jiu Jitsu, but the part of me that was growing in courage & belief in myself started to spread into other areas of my life. I committed to training and pushing myself outside my comfort zone regularly to keep up with experienced and stronger grapplers. This lead me to competing at high levels. But for me, Jiu Jitsu has always been more than just competition. Jiu Jitsu has built my confidence, shaped who I am and what I stand for today, and allowed me to experience what it means to be part of a team. It’s also taught me how to troubleshoot & navigate through both hard rolls on the mat and through the hard days in my life. Jiu Jitsu is just as much of a mental game as it is a physical one, and if you allow it to, it can change your life.

We train in Gi (traditional training uniform) and no Gi (compression / moisture wicking shorts and top). I enjoy all grappling sports as well as wrestling which has taken over the Jiu jitsu world. A good practitioner should be well rounded and have a good knowledge base in all areas of Jiu Jitsu.

Jiu Jitsu doesn’t have to mean for you what it means to me. It could simply mean having a place to go to where you can get a good full body workout within the safety and warmth of good company and good vibes. Explore what it’s like to train like an athlete and get into shape while having fun & feeling empowered instead of a workout regimen that’s boring and mundane.
